Victim Compensation
- Victims of physically violent crimes in Georgia may be eligible to receive compensation of up to $25,000. The following costs caused by crime may be reimbursed:
- Medical Costs – up to $15,000
- Counseling – up to $3,000
- Economic losses – up to $10,000
- Crime scene clean up – up to $1,500
- Funeral Expenses – up to $3,000
- All of the above amounts are out of pocket expenses to be paid by the victim and does not include bills covered by insurance.
- Eligibility also requires that a victim file a police report within 72 hours of the crime and they must have cooperated fully with all authorities.
- All Victim Compensation applications must be submitted within 1 year of the incident. No compensation will be paid for property loss or property crimes.
