LOGAN PIERCE WHITE CASE

For Immediate Release:

On December 4, 2008, the Douglas County District Attorneys Office prosecuted Logan Pierce White for the Armed Robbery of the Waffle House on Lee Road.

Logan White pled guilty in front of Superior Court Judge David T. Emerson on December 4, 2008 to 3 counts of Armed Robbery and 1 count of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony. Mr. White was sentenced to a 25 year sentence, with 15 years to serve in prison without the possibility of parole. As a condition of his plea agreement, Mr. White must give truthful testimony against his 3 co-defendants.

According to White’s statement given at his guilty plea, he, along with his co-defendants Skylar Hawkins, Octavious Woods, and Cordell Ward, came to Douglas County from Atlanta with the intent to commit an armed robbery on February 26, 2008. According to White’s statement, he along with the co-defendants went to the Waffle House on Lee Road and ordered food. After they finished eating their food, they all went back outside of the restaurant to their vehicle and planned the Armed Robbery. White stated that he had a 380 Highpoint pistol on him and another co-defendant was armed with a crow bar.

According to White’s statement, he and 2 of the other co-defendants went back into the restaurant and demanded money from the 3 people inside. The fourth co-defendant waited outside and drove the getaway vehicle.

After robbing the cook, waitress and customer inside the Waffle House, the defendants fled the scene in their vehicle and got back on I-20 headed to Atlanta. However, Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies quickly caught up with the defendants, and after a brief chase on the interstate, the deputies were able to perform a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle. The defendants attempted to flee on foot, however, 3 of the defendants were quickly apprehended. The fourth defendant was picked up the next day.

During the sentencing hearing, Assistant District Attorney Eddie Barker pointed out to the court that one of the victims was present during the sentencing and was pleased with this outcome.

The 3 remaining co-defendants are currently awaiting trial for the alleged Armed Robbery.
