For Immediate Release:

Bond was denied today for Otuwa Otuwa, a 23 year old man, who is charged with Homicide by Vehicle, Serious Injury by Vehicle, Driving Under the Influence, Driving Too Fast for Conditions, and Failure to Maintain Lane.

The incident occurred late Saturday night when Mr. Otuwa was driving southbound on Lee Road. Mr. Otuwa was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle. There were several passengers in the vehicle, and one passenger was killed on impact. Another passenger was transported to Grady, where they later died on Sunday due to injuries sustained in the accident.

When police arrived on the scene, Mr. Otuwa consented to a breathalyzer and his blood alcohol level was .15. He stated to officers that he had consumed 2 Greygoose Vodka and cranberry drinks prior to getting behind the wheel of the vehicle.

Judge Susan Camp denied bond to Mr. Otuwa, stating that she felt he was likely to commit another felony, if released on bond. Mr. Otuwa is currently on Probation for a Burglary charge in 2003.
